Your launch, step by step: a playbook from Discovera Launch

Below is the Discovera Launch plan for a product launch: what to prepare, what to share and how to follow up afterwards.

In the days before launch

  • Write the whole listing

Check every field: name, tagline, description, features, FAQs and links. A complete founder profile with a photo and a short bio makes the page feel real.

    Your founder profile

  • Sort out the pictures

Use a sharp logo and a few screenshots of the real product. A short demo video helps people understand it in seconds.

  • Plan around your diary

Check your calendar first. A launch goes best when the founder can reply to comments the same day.

    See the launch calendar

  • Write your messages in advance

Write the messages you will send on the day now: a post for each place you share and a note for your mailing list.

When your listing goes live

  • Share it on social

Announce the launch with the listing link on X, LinkedIn or Bluesky. A pinned post and a bio link keep it easy to find all week.

  • Use communities you belong to

Choose a few relevant communities, check their rules on self-promotion and post as yourself. Show HN is for things people can try.

  • Answer each question

Treat each question as a chance to explain the product better. Reply the same day and keep the tone friendly.

    Your listings

  • Tell your users

A personal email to your users on launch day works well. Keep it short, include the link and add it to your welcome email for the week.

Ask real users for honest feedback, not for votes from several accounts. Each person gets one vote, and no one can buy votes.

Launch week

  • Share what you learnt

Repost on LinkedIn later in the week with a fresh angle, such as a question people asked or a fix you shipped.

  • Fix what people ask about

If people keep asking something, the page should answer it. Edit the listing during the week as questions come in.

    Edit your listing

  • Use more launch directories

A launch is rarely one place. Choose a few launch directories that fit your product and list it there as well.

    Where else to launch

  • Place the badge on your site

Place the badge somewhere visible, such as your footer. It links straight to your listing page.

When the week is over

  • Revisit the page

Your listing stays up after the week. Keep the pricing, screenshots and description current so it stays accurate.

  • Launch the next version

Plan the next launch around a real change: a new version, a big feature or a milestone you can explain.

    Relaunch from your account

  • Check your numbers

Look at your analytics after the week: which links brought people, and what they did next. Tagged links make this much clearer.

Questions

Should I list my product in other launch directories?
Choose the directories that list products like yours. Compare their prices and link types first, and avoid pasting the same text everywhere.
Is it all right to ask friends to vote?
Invite people to look and vote if they like it. Votes can never be bought, and using extra accounts or vote-trading groups is not allowed.
How soon should I post about the launch?
On the day you launch, then once more in the same week with fresh news, so people who missed it can catch up.
What do I do once my launch is over?
Measure where sign-ups came from, keep the page current, and plan a relaunch around your next big update.
