What formats does PhotoPrism® support?
PhotoPrism® supports indexing, viewing, and converting most popular image, video and RAW formats, including JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, HEIF, HEIC, MP4, MOV, WebP, and WebM. Video codecs and containers supported by FFmpeg can be transcoded to MPEG-4 AVC on demand. A full list of file types and extensions can be found in the Knowledge Base.
Is my data private and secure with PhotoPrism®?
Yes. PhotoPrism® is 100% self-funded and independent, which means the company will never sell your data and will always be transparent about its software and services. Your data will never be shared with Google, Amazon, Microsoft, or Apple unless you intentionally upload files to one of their services. Team editions run fully on-premises and are GDPR-compliant, ensuring your media and users' data stays in your own infrastructure under your control.
Where can PhotoPrism® run?
PhotoPrism® runs on many platforms. It works as a Progressive Web App on phones, tablets, and desktop computers. For self-hosted deployments, PhotoPrism® is available on Docker for Mac, Linux, and Windows, and also runs on DigitalOcean, Raspberry Pi, FreeBSD, and many NAS devices. Can I share albums with others?
Yes. PhotoPrism® provides secret links to easily share albums with loved ones. You can create multiple links for each album and optionally set an expiration date. No additional apps need to be installed and no registration is required from those viewing the album.
What is PhotoSync and how does it work?
PhotoSync is a backup and sync feature that allows you to securely backup iOS and Android phones in the background. Additionally, WebDAV clients such as Microsoft's Windows Explorer and Apple's Finder can connect directly to PhotoPrism®, allowing you to open, edit, and delete files from your computer as if they were local.
